Dear Friends,

We are happy to report that the 2 new Otis elevators that were installed are wonderful. Not only are they larger and brighter they even talk to you! They whisk you down and up in comfort and style.

The beach comes and goes. We had over 100 truck loads of sand spread over it and we had a huge beach until several storms in October 2010 took it out. It has now come back and we have 2-3 rows of beach chairs on the beach. Hopefully it will stay but nature does as it will. We also repaired the sea walls but the above storms knocked them over again.

Gingerbread Cafe just keeps getting better. Ruphus and his staff keeps us all smiling with their delicious food and wonderful service.

During the year we had a new roof installed on the building. We replaced all the air conditioning thermostats in the apartments as well as new air conditioning units in the apartments on the Fourth floor. We will continue with this until the rest of the resort is done which will take a while.

We retiled the entire walkway on the first floor including the Front Desk and the terrace outside the Gingerbread Cafe. We have also installed a canopy which goes from the original canopy to the Gingerbread so no more getting wet when you walk to the restaurant.

Country St. Maarten which came to be October 10, 2010 (10-10-10) has given a lot of pride to our island. There are no real changes that you will see now but hopefully in the future we will have many improvements. As with all infants it will take a while to grow but it will happen.

We have many new projects which we are starting this year. We will patch the parking lot as well as tile another walkway on one of the floors among many other things. Unlike other resorts we renovate some items in the hotel every year. In this manner we will hopefully never have assessments, huge jumps in maintenance etc. for modernizations and replacements.

Hotel Gossip - Olympia Peterson one of our Head Housekeepers which I am sure many of you will remember retired as of 12/31. She has been here since the very beginning. We will all miss her.
